Five Question Friday

1. What's your favorite way to spend down time (alone or with a significant other)?

I don't really have much down time. I know, you might think that a woman that has 4 kids from ages 7 years to 7 months would have nothing but free time, but you'd be wrong. =) Occasionally, like right now, when all 4 kiddos are in bed and my hubby isn't home from work yet, and I'm not cleaning or making grocery lists, I like to read blogs, facebook, I love making hair bows, but haven't done that much lately (I need too), and recently, I've been really into watching anything on TLC.

As for down time with my hubby....well...the last time we were alone was when we were driving to the hospital the morning I had Karsyn. You know, when our little family of 5 became our little family of 6. But, we do get to spend quality time with each other when he gets home from work. We have a few shows we like to watch together. We clean up together. We spend a lot of time laughing together. Oh, and talking about our kiddos.. Yes. We do that a lot.


2. Are you the kind of person that wants things more as soon as you know you can't have it?

You know, I really don't think so.


3. If you were given $1000 to spend on yourself, what would you buy?

Well, first, I would go get my hair done. My do is way over due to be did. =) After that, I could use a few new clothes. But right now, I'm having visions of matching sister Easter dresses and an Easter vest and tie for Evan. So, I'd buy that. Yep, I'd break the rule of spending it on myself and buy something for the kids.

4. Do you ever go out to eat by yourself?

No. Other than the occasional run to Wal-Mart, I don't really do anything by myself. And growing up in a big family, I never have. In fact, I always feel kind of sad for people when they go out to eat by themself.

5. What company would you want to do a blog review for?

I could so do one for Wal-Mart. I spend a lot of time in there. Addi likes to tell me things she 'needs' from there. Early this week, she wanted to go for ice cream and clothes. Most of the time, she just wants to go for the sticker and the cookie.

The Duggar Family - Duggar Recipes - Apple Dumplings

So, I've become a huge fan of the show 19 and Counting. And before to many feathers get ruffled, I think now would be a good time to say that we are perfectly happy with our little family of 6. I will say, I think I have something to learn from the Duggar's. I don't know, I just like them. They seem like good, God loving people. I was checking out thier website to learn how to make homemade laundry soap, when I came across this recipe. I thought Apple Dumplings would be super fun to make as a family, and it was. We laughed a lot making them, but I think we enjoyed eating them more. We used 3 cans of the cheap 49 cent biscuits. I think we ended up using 2 sticks of butter and Jason put a whole tablespoon of cinnamon in. Hope you enjoy! (So, about the homemade laundry soap, my friend, Kim, made it, loves it, and hasn't had to buy laundry soap in a year. I'm going to make a batch of it this week. I'll let you know how that goes.)

Our MVP

Evan's first season of basketball is now in the books. His team won 4 of their 8 games. I thought Evan was going to be a good little player. But to be perfectly honest, he blew my socks off. He is an AWESOME player. He's #15 on the red team.




He played a very aggressive game. Defense is his specialty!

That's him throwing the ball in! During the first game of his tournament, I overheard some parents from the opposing team talking about my #15. They were certain that he played a lot of ball before. They even made mention that his parents probably had him in a ton of sports and that he was really good. However, this really was his first season.



Here's our Evan getting his trophy. They won their last game 31-18. Evan scored 5 of those points.



You can tell from his dripping sweat, this boy put everything he had on the court.




I loved watching Evan's first season of basketball. And if he plays this well at 7 years-old, I can't wait to see how he'll progress over the years. But to be honest, basketball or no basketball, this little guy sure makes my heart swell up with pride.

Valentine's Day 2012

Valentine's Day is one of my favorite days of the year. Everything is pink and red. You tell the people in your life that you love them. Flowers, jewelry, chocolate...what's not to love? My valentine for the 11th time got me a box of chocolates. Addi was kind enough to take a bite out of each one of them, since there wasn't a chocolate map. She wanted to make sure I knew what I was biting into...yet another expression of love on Valentine's Day.




This Valentine's Day was extra special, because it's the first time we got to share it with this little Sweetie!




Awww...that smile of hers just makes my heart melt.



Daddy took a Mommy/Baby Valentine picture and then we were off to celebrate with Evan and Payton at their class parties. Daddy and Addi stayed home so Addi could nap. She wasn't feeling good. Little did we know, the next day she was diagnosed with RSV. She's on the mend now and doing MUCH better.



First we stopped by Evan's class party. He was having a lot of fun. About 4 of the students in his class offered Karsyn candy. Eeek!



We then ran across the hall to Payton's party. She was very happy to show off Karsyn, but she wasn't really wanting her picture made. Her special Valentine put an extra Fun Dip in her bag - there's nothing like first grade love. =)



After we came home, we tried to make good on my New Year's resolution to get a picture of our little family of 6 at least once a month. This beauty is the best we could get. I called Aunt Kary to see if we could stop by for her to take a picture of us. She was more than happy to.




Before we left, I tried my best to get a picture of Addi in her special Valentine's Day shirt. This is the best I could get. I bet you can't guess who bought her this shirt.




This is the best shot Aunt Kary got of our little family of 6. And yep, I'm pretty sure my eyes are closed. But, hey, we're doing better, right?



Then we were headed off to dinner at one of our favorite Mexican joints in T-Town. My rough streak in getting good pictures continued.



This was our 11th Valentine's Day to spend together! And I have to say, I love him more as each year goes by. There's no other man I would want to be my Valentine. He's the one for me.



I loved our first Valentine's Day as a family of 6. I am so glad that we got to spend it together. I hope you had a wonderful day full of love too!

You Might Be Having a Bad Day If....

Surely, all these things couldn't happen to one mommy in a day right? Umm...the likeness to real events or real people in this story is purely coincidental. But, you might be having a bad day,

If you give your 6 and 7 year-old popcorn money for school and they both lose it at least 3 times before you leave the house for school....

If your beautiful 6 year-old daughter, who woke up 3 hours, yes 3 hours before school starts, hasn't put her shoes on or brushed her teeth and school starts in less than 15 minutes. It's good thing we live close. I mean, it's a good thing the people in the story live close...

If after dropping your two older children off at school, you decide to go through the McDonald's drive thru for a fruit parfait, where the cashier drops your debit card under your mini van. You decide to get out of your van to get it, when at that point you realize you have a major case of plumbers crack and the cashier, along with all the other customers in the drive through are staring at you...

If you call your husband and he's a little, yes, just a wee bit snippy with you...

If you go to Target to find a super good deal on pajama pants for your son, only to find out later that you bought him the wrong size...

If you have lunch with your sister she decides to hold your baby and they have wrestling match over her plate. At the same time, your 2 year-old daughter gets nacho cheese all over her shirt...

If you take your 2 year-old to Wal-Mart and she says the phrase "I said, 'Stop it Mama,'" 842 times...

If you are leaving Wal-Mart with your 2 year-old and 6 month-daughters and it starts pouring down rain...and you can't remember exactly where you parked...

If after you pick up your big kids from school, you have to raise your voice way more times than you like...

If your baby holds both sides of your face and gives you a big kiss...Umm..No, that's pretty great. Forget that one...

If you finally find a "boy" movie for your son and you can't seem to get your stinkin' DVD player to work...

If you hear the words, "Mom, Addi peed on the carpet!"....

If your 6 year-old daughter spills her drink twice at dinner....

Yep, all these things might be an indicator that you're having a bad day. But, maybe after you think about it, you realize that if this describes a bad day in your life, you must have a pretty good life....And I do. I am blessed.
