The Weekend What

This weekend, I celebrated my 33rd birthday.  Yay!  Jason was off and the best way that I could think of spending my birthday was a laid back day.  We started our morning off up at the soccer fields.  Evan played his last game of the season.  I'm really proud of how well Evan played this season.  He did such an awesome job playing goalie that most games, his coach would never sub him.  That was the case this Saturday.

If the kiddos ever have a Happy Meal during the week, I try to save the toy to open during the weekend games.  This time, it was a  Shrek mask.  Payton put it together and then put it on.  It scared Addi. =)

Addi had Daddy hold her tight!

Then, Addi hid behind Daddy.
Karsyn got a little tired of sitting still.  She and Payton played their own game of soccer.

Evan's team played an awesome game!  They won 9-2!  They celebrated by taking one last team picture, a hand's in, and a dog pile.

Dog Pile!!!!

After Evan's game, we headed to the basketball courts.  Payton's team played a nail biter of a game.  They were up a few points.  They were down a few points.  They were down by 3 at the final buzzer.  It was so intense.

Go Blue Lightening!!!
After the game, Nana told me that she had a birthday surprise for me.  She made me my favorite - Rice Krispy Treats!!!  Yummy!!!

Yummy!!!!
For lunch, Jason and the kiddos took me out for lunch.  We wanted to try a new Mexican Restaurant in Tulsa, but the wait was too long for the little girls, considering that they had just sit through 2 hours of games.  Instead, we went to Chili's.

During my birthday lunch, Addi and Payton both said that they weren't feeling well.  Addi felt a little warm and Payton was noticeably not feeling good.  We all went home and took a nap.  The girls perked up a little after some rest, so we decided to go browse at new cars for Daddy.  It's well past time for him to have a new car.

Before we left, we weren't sure if we wanted to find something really fuel efficient (since Daddy has a bit of a drive to work) or something that's big enough to fit us all.  After looking at a few SUV's, we realized that we could have the best of both worlds....if we're willing to pay the price.  Whew!  Some of those can be quite pricey!  We found a couple of used ones that we are pretty interested in.  In fact, Daddy, Evan, and Payton even took one for a test drive.  Addi was a little disappointed that Daddy didn't want a purple truck. ha!  Both she and Karsyn kept looking in the windows of different cars and would say, "Hmmm...I think this one looks big enough for us." I'm hoping to have some good news to report soon.

When we got home for the evening, Addi started running a fever.  Payton never ran a fever, but bless her heart, she just isn't feeling great.  I'm praying that they aren't coming down with what Evan had the week before last.  I'm also praying that Karsyn will stay well too.

Addi stayed up most of the night coughing!  So, we didn't go to church this morning. Boo!  Jason and I decided to use the day to get a few projects done.  In fact, we still are in the middle of a few, but I needed a little break. =)  Our main objective today was to convert Karsyn's crib into a toddler bed and to move her from our room to Payton and Addi's room.  That required a lot of rearranging and switching some dressers out.  Here's a peak of what the girls' room looks like almost finished.

We decided it was time to replace the girls' mini blinds and Daddy is leaving now to go to Wal-mart to buy shades for the window that is without.  He picked up the wrong size earlier.  We've been back and forth about getting bunk beds and after today, we decided that we really want the girls to have them.  We also plan to rip out the carpet soon and replace it with wood laminate flooring.  Our plans are to also paint all of the wood in the room white.  The projects are all adding up, aren't they?  The girls want to paint their room hot pink and get Minnie Mouse bed spreads.  I'm not sure what we are going to do.  I really like the pink and green and I love the curtains that my grandma made out of Payton's crib bumper.

As for Karsyn sleeping in her new room in a newly converted toddler bed, she's doing great so far tonight.  Although, I do have to say that she snuggled me and and fell asleep on the couch.  I just had to lay her in her bed. =)  I think she'll do great though. =)

Hope you all had a great weekend too!

  1. The crib bumper curtains are super cute! Even I wouldn't have thought of that one. Y'all inspire me! Oh, and I love rice crispy treats too...we made them just last week. : )

  2. Happy Birthday to my "almost birthday twin"! It sounds like you had a fun (but busy) day. Your post about Evan's soccer game just reminds me that I have to blog about all of my Evan's soccer season. I have been going through the pictures and preparing them for the post all season, but I just can't find the energy to devote to what will be a pretty photo intensive project that I'll have to break into multiple parts. Evan's last game was also on Saturday, and we had a little end of season party last night to hand out their trophies. They didn't win their last game although Evan did score the only two goals for his team...that isn't typical and I don't think any of them were really playing like they usually do, but they still had a great season. Evan played goalie a couple of times, but it was not his area of expertise. We only had a couple of players who could really handle that position so it is definitely not an easy position to play. Evan still primarily does well in the offensive position which still really surprises me since he is my more passive child. I hate that the girls weren't feeling well on your birthday, but hopefully, some much needed rest did the trick and that they are feeling a lot better now. And Brody still falls asleep in our bed with us, and we carry him to his bed. Of course, he has also been getting up a lot at night and coming back to our bed, but that's a price we are willing to pay. I just love snuggling with him too much and know that before long, he won't want to snuggle anymore. ;-)

  3. I'm glad you had a good birthday and yay! for Rice Krispie treats. I hope the girls are feeling better and their room looks really great. I love the idea of making curtains out of the crib bumper -- they are awesome!
