I apologize for my lack of blogging over the past month. I had a computer issue that didn't end well. As luck would have it, I had to replace my computer. Boo! I'm ready to get back to blogging again. I'm not sure if computer issues were really the sole reason for my lack of blogging, life has been kind of crazy lately. I don't think I would have been able to keep up. So, let me update you on what's been going on with our little family.
I'd been asking for prayers for my sister's foster sons. Early in January, it was decided that the boys were going to continue their journey in the foster system, rather than be eligible for adoption. With this decision, the boys were moved to another home. It was devastating. Evan had the most trouble understanding. It was hard as a mommy to comfort him, when I myself didn't understand. We know that God knew their story long ago. And for some reason, we were only meant to be in a chapter, instead of the whole book. We praise Him for the time we got to share with them. We're going to have to do our best to remember where it seems like the system is failing them, God will not fail them. They are in His hands.
Jason took a week of vacation in January. He started Phase 1 of our kitchen redo. He painted all of our cabinets and kitchen walls. Phase 2 will include new kitchen counter tops and a new sink. We're hoping to make that happen before summer. While Jason was on vacation, Karsyn, Evan, and Payton all had a tummy virus. The next week, Influenza A decided to visit our little family. It was something awful! The kiddos got on Tamiflu within a few hours of the onset of symptoms. I, on the other hand, did not. I missed my window of opportunity and had a miserable 4 days. I am super thankful for Jason being super dad while I was down. He held things together. My mom cooked us up some chili and chicken noodle soup. We had family and friends calling and checking up on us. I can't tell you how much I appreciated everyone's concern.
And that leads us to last week. We got some really hard news. Earlier in the month, my Grandma Shirley had started not feeling well. At first, we thought she just caught the junk that was going around. After a few rounds of testing, it was determined that she has cancer. Just typing that hurts. At this point, we don't have a whole lot of answers. She's scheduled for more testing this week and hopefully we'll have enough information to put a good care plan into place. Finding out this news has prompted my uncle, aunt, and their 4 children to move to Oklahoma from Arizona. This is a great blessing for our entire family and it makes my grandma so incredibly happy. Please keep my grandma in your prayers as well as the rest of our family.
As hard as the past few weeks have been, we do have a lot to look forward to in the next few months. I am so glad that I'll be able to blog all about them!

Oh my goodness Tracy. You have been hit hard this month. I am praying for your sister's foster boys. The fact that it appears that you were a chapter rather than the whole story is such a hard thing to process. I am praying for all of you too.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that Jason was able to help while you were all sick. That is a big blessing.
And I will be praying for your grandma as well as your whole family. That is really hard news to hear. God knows your grandma and is holding her (and all of you) in His hands.
Ugh, I hate when the first of the year starts out like this! I know this is just a lot for you to have to process at one time, but it sounds like your family is so strong and supportive of one another. I am glad your Grandma will have so much family to support and care for her. I am still heart broken about the boys' situation. It is just hard for us to process because we don't know what God knows. I continue to pray that He will work in their lives as only He can. I hate that you all have been dealing with the yucky flu and that you were hit so hard with it. I have never actually been diagnosed with the flu so I don't know how bad it feels, but I can imagine from all that I have heard and read. It sounds like it has been so bad this year everywhere with the flu vaccine not seeming to work well at all. Here's to better and healthier days ahead!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry your family got so sick in January. It was a rough month for us, too. I'm very sorry to hear about your sister's foster sons and the bad news about your grandma. My thoughts and prayers are coming her way!
Not a good way to start the month! So sorry to hear of all of your trials, but I am glad you are back to blogging! Lana :)
