The Weekend What

This weekend started off on a very solemn note.  We said good-bye to my Aunt Charlene on Friday afternoon.  That evening, we all met at my Grandma Paula's house to have dinner as a family.  My sister Ashley couldn't be at Aunt Charlene's services, but Jessi and she booked it to Oklahoma to make it in time for the dinner.  Dad, Jason, and I knew, but we kept it a secret.  We thought it just might bring a smile to my mom and grandma's faces.  Our planned worked!  After the dinner, we all met up at my mom and dad's house.  It doesn't take long for my family to be together before a Scrabble game takes place.

The kiddos and I didn't stick around until the end of the game, but from what I hear, Ashley was the victor and Uncle Billy didn't fare so well.  Uncle Billy was kind enough to bring Jason home after their late night Scrabble game. =)  The next morning, Payton headed back to Missouri with Aunt Ashley and Jessi.  Aunt Ashley sent me this picture.  She knows the the over protective mommy in me needs to know my baby is okay.

Since Jason took Friday off, he had to work a late day on Saturday.  Evan, Karsyn, Addi, and I were all kind of tired from a long week, but we got quite a few chores done.  Then, we headed outside to enjoy a beautiful evening.  The Barbie obsession runs deep with these two.

That night, I was giving the girls a bath and Karsyn stood up.  I reminded her to sit down in the tub.  She told me that she was trying to walk on water.  I said, "Karsyn, only Jesus can walk on water.  You need to sit down."  Karsyn looked at me and said, "Peter walked on the water."  She still had to sit down, but I love that her knowledge in the bible is growing. On Sunday morning, we got up early and headed to Missouri.  We went to Uncle Chad and Aunt Ashley's church and to get our Payton back. =)  Their church opened a new sanctuary and we wanted to be there for the very first service.  It was great!  A ton of other family and cousins came along with us.  We got back to the great state of Oklahoma in the late afternoon.  Payton and I bought groceries, we played outside, and then had a late dinner.  I've walked away from this weekend with an even greater appreciation for my family.  I'm so glad that they were there as we celebrated the new and mourned what was lost.

  1. Okay Miss Karsyn, along with your biblical knowledge, you make me laugh! I'm glad that you got to celebrate both the good and the hard with your family.
