This Christmas Eve, nothing and I mean nothing, went quite as planned. The kiddos and I were going to go visit all of the Great Grands and then go to a Candle Light Christmas Eve service while Jason was at work. My van battery died and I ruined the girls' Christmas dresses in the wash. Ahh!!! We thought we could salvage the night by attending another church's Christmas services after Jason got off of work. Right before Jason left, he got tied up with a situation that made him unable to leave for quite some time. He got off nearly two hours later than expected. The kiddos and I didn't end up leaving the house at all. =( We did get a visit from Super Nana and Papa. They brought us everything we needed to finish making our Christmas cookies. The kiddos and I spent our day in our pjs, watching Christmas movies, and singing Karaoke. When Jason got home, we ate dinner and then decided to make the best of our Christmas Eve. First, all of the kiddos took baths and got in their favorite pajamas.

| Sisters waiting on Santa. Addi looks a bit like her Daddy in this picture, don't you think? |
Then, we sprinkled reindeer food, that looked strangely similar to Fruity Pebbles in our front yard. I guess the reindeer weren't too hungry, because they left a little in our yard. =)
After we made sure the reindeer wouldn't leave hungry, we worked on Santa's tasty treat. We figured lots of kids would leave him gingerbread men cookies. So, we made gingerbread seahorses cookies, along with a big glass of eggnog to wash it all down. (If you ask Addi and Karsyn, it's called "egg narhg.") Santa really enjoyed his treat. He gobbled down all of the cookies and there was not a drop of egg narhg left.
Right before bed, the kiddos checked the Santa Tracker. He was in Buenos Aires.
With that, the kiddos went to bed and it was soon Christmas Day.

I hate that so many things did not work out according to plan, but you know, that Christmas Eve spent at home sounds pretty nice to me...with the exception of Jason's absence of course. And how lucky that you have a wonderful nana and papa to supply all your needs! :-) Yes, Addi does look a good deal like her daddy. And those gingerbread seahorse cookies are too cute!
ReplyDeleteAwwww...sorry honey. We aren't familiar with the city we are temporarily living in, so we looked online to find a local church with a Christmas Eve service. They had the time listed wrong so we were a half hour late, then Clarice wanted to cry during the last part. It was still fun to get out of the house though...so, it all worked out. Hang in there lovely lady!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry your Christmas Eve did not work out as planned. Having lived through a couple of those, I was extra thankful that this year ours went very well. It helped that we had four adults to the two kids in the house and that none of us were sick. I love your gingerbread seahorses and I'm sure Santa will always remember them :)
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry it didn't work out as planned, but it looks like you made the best of it! I love the first picture of your kids and the seahorse cookies are the best! I'm sure Santa loved them!
