Happy Easter!!! {2015}

Happy Easter! I pray that you've had a good one!  Easter Sunday for our little family was very nice.  Jason made a run to the donut shop this morning and got the kiddos Easter Egg Donut Baskets.  They gobbled them all up before I could take a picture, but trust me they were cute!  After our super high sugar content breakfast, we took a few pictures before we headed out the door to church.

Grandma Beverly and Papa Floyd met us at church this morning.  All of the kids really enjoyed that.  It was a packed house.  That was a blessing!  My intentions were to take a few group pictures of our little family and with Grandma and Papa, but it was very rainy and cold.  We hurried home to change and then headed out to Grandma and Papa's house.  We did run out to the backyard to take our annual Easter picture with the Red Bud Tree. It was wet, cold and no one was compliant. Here's our best picture in all of it's glory!

That really was the best...if I can call it that. lol! We missed 2014's Red Bud picture, because we were in Missouri.  Here's the previous 2 years.

Hmmm....it would appear as though someone is always crying in these pictures!  Sigh!  We'll try again next year and if things don't work out, we are canning this little tradition.  Jason wanted to take a Red Bud picture with me.  Ours was equal in it's splendor. ha ha ha!

We all changed and then were on our way to Grandma and Papa's house.  We made our crowd pleasing banana pudding. Yum!  Make one large box of instant vanilla pudding and mix it with 2 small boxes of made instant banana cream pudding.  Fold in a container of cool whip.  Layer with thinly sliced bananas and vanilla wafers.  We often use sugar free ingredients and it's still very good!

We got to Grandma and Papa's house and got busy putting the last minute touches on lunch.  I'm always so proud of Payton.  She jumps right in and helps.

After lunch, Grandma and Papa gave Evan, Payton, Addi, and Karsyn Easter baskets filled with all kinds of goodies.

Addi and Payton had fun with the wrapping.

Then, it was time to hunt eggs.  The weather didn't allow us to do this outside.  We had to do an indoor hunt.  All of the kids waited in the spare bedroom as Papa, Grandma, Jason, and I hid eggs.  We called them all into the hallway.

And then the hunt was on.  Each child got to collect 15 eggs.  Grandma had them stuffed with candy, toys and money!  I'm a little bummed that my pictures didn't turn out too good!

Payton got the prize egg that had a five dollar bill!  She was super excited about that.

After the egg hunt, we ate desserts, visited, and shared a lot of laughs.  We were a little sad that we weren't able to fly kites this Easter.  That's a fun tradition that we started when Evan was a baby.  Maybe we'll be able to another weekend.  As fun as all of these traditions can be, the most important part of Easter is what it's all about. God loves us so much that He sent his only son to take on the punishment for our sins.  Jesus was nailed to the cross, died, buried and rose again in our place.  All we have to do is believe on Him and all of our sins are washed away.  It's amazing grace!

  2. What a wonderful Easter for your family! I love the pictures of the kids all dressed up. And I too love the last part. What a sweet reminder of the real reason for this special holiday! :-)

  3. Add me to the list of people who love the last part. Our Easter wasn't very exciting this year but we did get to church which, to me, is always the most important part of Easter. Our weather also sucked (we got snow) so we didn't get a family picture. Boo.
