Flea Market Fun

Today, after a morning of soccer games, our little family of 6 went to run a few errands.  On the way to pick up Jason's contacts, I noticed a sign for a Flea Market.  After we made sure Daddy could see, we decided to see what a Flea Market is all about.  The kids and I have never been and let me tell you it's an interesting place. =)  The kiddos thought this huge gorilla statue was really cool.

Our kiddos really enjoyed digging through the piles of stuff.  Evan was really excited when he found some Play Station 2 games.  Payton wanted to touch and look at everything.

When Addi saw this bin of junk toys, she told me that she had found treasure!  Jason and I both laughed.

As we walked around and looked at the outside shops, I thought to myself - this place just isn't for me!  One vendor was selling items that I'm pretty sure had been in a fire. Then, we walked into a building that was buzzing with activity.  There was old country music playing from a record player and all kinds of old and new things for sale. My opinion of the Flea Market started to change. It was fun pointing out different things to our kids, like 8Tracks.  And yes, 8Tracks are a little before our time, but Jason had fun explaining to the kids what they were.
REO Speedwagon, anyone?
We had to pull Karsyn away from all of the doll booths.  She thought she needed a new baby. =)  All 3 of my girls loved looking at the jewelry and anything that sparkled.

When we decided it was time to leave, Addi got a little upset.  She wasn't finished treasure hunting - even though we didn't buy anything.  I think we'll have to check out the Flea Market again some time.  Hopefully, these kiddie rides will be up and running when we do.

  1. Awww, that sounds like fun! I remember going to our local flea market in my hometown, but what actually struck me about this post is something that happened more recently. We have been driving just a few miles down the road to SC to get cheaper gas lately, and right next to the gas station is a flea market. We haven't been, but Evan noticed it the other day and asked what a flea market was. Then, he started making jokes. I had joked with him about them "selling to fleas" and asked what they would sell. Then, he said, "I'm glad there aren't mosquito markets." I asked him what they would sell, and he said "you!" Haha! Boys, huh? I thought you would appreciate that as another mother of an Evan. ;-)
