When I was a senior in high school, I was hired as a teller for a local bank that was getting ready to launch it's first branch in a retail store. As we were gearing up for the grand opening, I was introduced to a few of the retail store employees, including a really cute green-eyed guy named Jason. After a few month of getting to know Jason and developing a huge crush on him, I was transferred to a different branch.

At one point during my transfer, I was asked to help out at another local branch and had the opportunity to work with Jason's cousin, Heather. I couldn't help but ask her a ton of questions about Jason. She seemed really annoyed that I was so interested in him. LOL! Everything she told me made me like him even more, but I really didn't think that I would see him again.

Then, in the summer of 2000, I was transferred back to the retail location of the bank. By that time, Jason was working in the Cash Office at the store and we had to interact with each other multiple times through out the day. I couldn't help but like him more. He was so kind and compassionate. I loved that he was so outgoing - he would talk to everyone at the store. That summer, the bank was selling shirts for their annual 4th of July fireworks show. One morning, I was struggling to pull a rack of shirts out of the office when I felt someone come from behind me and pull the rack out. When I turned around, it was Jason. We smiled at each other and at that point, I knew I was in love with him....even before we started dating.

Two weeks later, we went out "as friends" on a double date with his cousin, Heather, and her husband, George. I think we both wanted to label it "as friends" so that if it went south, it wouldn't be awkward when we had to work together, even though, I had no intentions of just being Jason's friend. =) We ate at Chili's and then went to see the romantic masterpiece known as Big Mama's House. ha! A week later, Jason told me that he loved me. Two weeks after that, he told me that he knew he wanted to marry me since our first date. Four months after that we were engaged! We don't like to waste any time. LOL!

In the very short period of dating, Jason invited me to go to church, where I accepted Jesus as my Savior. We developed a really close relationship with our Pastor in that time and he did our premarital counseling. There were a few times during the sessions where I kind of drifted off thinking, Jason and I will NEVER have any problems. I don't know if I was more in love or naive. =) Six months after we were engaged, Jason and I were husband and wife.

We had a beautiful wedding in May of 2001. Around 200 of our closest family and friends were witness to our special day. (Some day soon, I'll scan a few pictures of our big day.) It's hard to believe that day was almost 12 year ago. I have been so incredibly blessed with a great husband. He's a great daddy and my best friend. Throughout the last 12 years, there have been ups and downs, but there isn't anyone else that I would want share my life with.
What a great love story! Isn't amazing to look back on our stories and see how God was working things out? That is always what amazes me.
ReplyDeleteAwww, I am really enjoying reading these stories! Yours is so sweet. It's like you two didn't rush into the first date, but then after that, you were full speed ahead. Haha!
