Light Up the Sky

Last night, we did something that Papa F and Grandma had never done before....we went to a firework show!  Jason's side of the family has always hosted a big 4th of July celebration, so they had never been to one before.  A very small town just to the south of us host a huge show every year.  The town is so small that it doesn't have a stoplight, but around 15,000 people come every year for the show.

Before we headed out to the show, we met up with Grandma, Papa, Uncle Brian, and Aunt Stephanie for dinner at our favorite BBQ place.  Since Karsyn's birthday is on Friday, she got a birthday sundae.  We all laughed because she took a few bites and then decided that she'd rather eat her pickle!  That's Addi's hand helping herself to a bite. LOL!

A sundae is always best when it's shared.  There was more than enough ice cream for all 4 kiddos.  The birthday girl didn't mind at all.

After we stuffed our bellys, we headed out to the firework show.  As you can imagine, when 15,000 people come to such a small town, a space to be isn't easy to find.  However, Papa has a friend who let us park at his business.  Thanks to Papa and his friend, we had some of the best seats in the house.

Grandma gave each of the kiddos a really cool flash light.  The kiddos thought they were great!

By the time the show started, Karsyn was asleep in Daddy's arms. =)  The fireworks were amazing!

Addi and Payton both got a little scared at one point, but I think they still really enjoyed them.  Evan said it was AWESOME!!!!!  It was a super fun night!  Grandma and Papa, I hope you enjoyed your first firework show!  We are so glad you could come with us!

FLASHBACK TIME!!!!  Here's a few pictures from the first and only other time we went to this show.  We went 3 years ago!  I've never put these pictures on this blog before and I thought it would be fun.  Back in 2010, the show was rained out and scheduled for a week later.  That worked out great for us, because I had strep throat!  Who gets sick like that in the summer?  Me, I do!  Here I am on that day!  I had just lost a lot of weight.  This picture really motivates me to get started again!

And look how little Evan and Payton were!  What a couple of patriotic cuties!!!!  Evan was 6 and Payton was 5!!!

We were a little family of 5 then and Addi was the baby of the family.  She was a super silly girl even way back then.  She had just tried to take a drink out of a water bottle.  It was a skill that needed a little more refining from this little girl who had just turned 1!  She thought having water all over her shirt was hilarious!!!

Addi
Evan was Daddy's little buddy at the show.  We all wore matching flag shirts!

Even back then, Payton was a little afraid of the fireworks.  She loves to look at them, but she thinks the big booms are scary.

Like this year, the show was great!!!!

  1. That sounds like a fun evening! I am super-impressed with your fireworks pics!

We just had a million people setting off fireworks in our neighbourhood over the weekend which kept Sam up until 11pm three nights in a row. So we are rather tired around here. I can't wait until our kids are older and we can go to the community fireworks which happen at a big lake.

  2. Your pics splashed me in all things red, right, & blue! So precious.

Delighted to meet you. I hope you don't mind if I splash around to get to know you a bit more. This looks like a refreshing place to dip into some goodness.

I'm also on the hunt for ideas to splatter some joy into our summer. I would love to hear your ideas. Come splash with us!
