Never Say Never

Last summer, I took my kiddos, along with my niece, Jessi, to our local McDonald's for breakfast and play time.  For the most part, I've always been able to count on my crew to be very well behaved.  On this day, I left with my head hung in shame.  (The post this links back to doesn't fully cover the scope of just how bad it went.)  I vowed that I would NEVER take my children back to an indoor play area...ever...again!!!

Over the course of the last few months, our McDonald's has been completely remodeled, including a new play area.  I have to admit that the kiddos weren't the only ones who were excited about that.  And then, I remembered that we kicked off last summer by eating lunch there.  This morning, I ended our nearly year long ban by taking the kids out to breakfast and to check out the new play area.

I intentionally took the kiddos there early, so that the play area wouldn't be crowded.  Fortunately, we had the area all to ourselves for most of the time that we were there.  Everyone was great and our family ban against indoor play areas has officially been lifted. =)

I think Addi was a little scared of heights at first, so she stayed in the toddler area.  Once she realized how much fun Evan, Payton, and Karsyn were having, she let loose and had a blast in the big kid area.  Shortly before we left, a couple of kids came to play and Addi was excited.  She asked her new friends if they wanted to slide with her.

Lately, Karsyn has decided that she isn't a baby, she's a big girl!  She doesn't want a sippy cup any more.  She doesn't want to be carried any where - big girls walk!  She doesn't even like it when we try to get her dressed!  We hear the words, "I can do it!" or "No, I do it!" quite often from her.  So, it was no surprise when she bypassed the toddler area and went right to play with the big kids.

Evan really liked the fact that the play area is called "The Obstacle Course."  He felt like it was a personal challenge.  I know soon, he'll think he's too big to play, so I am going to enjoy it while it last.  I just love seeing his ear to ear grin.

Before we left the house this morning, Payton very excitedly handed me a coupon for a free egg white sandwich.  She loves looking through all the ads we get in the mail and  keeps her own little file of coupons. =)  She also loves playing with Karsyn.  She was very excited when she convinced Karsyn to check out the toddler area.

We had a lot of fun and I'm looking forward to maybe scheduling a few play dates.  We'll see. =)
