Oh Christmas Tree!

Our little family giggled all day about our fainting Christmas tree from last night.  We are feeling a little like the Griswalds. =)  Even though Tuesday evenings are very busy for our family, we decided to decorate our Christmas tree tonight.  Daddy took Payton and Addi to dance class, while Karsyn and I took Evan to his basketball scrimmage.  When we all got home, I really wanted to get a picture of my dancing girls in front of our undecorated tree.  Addi was NOT in the mood, but Payton was more than happy to pose for me.

Daddy started bath time with the kiddos and I made a Wal-Mart run.  We needed more lights and Snicker doodles.  I came home to 3 freshly bathed kiddos.  Daddy gave Karsyn her bath and I started baking the cookies.  I was still working on the cookies as Daddy and the kiddos started on the lights.  That's when I heard a big crash from the living room and Daddy say, "Oh Addi!"  Addi in a very sweet little voice said, "It's not my fault." Jason and Payton started working right away to get the tree up again.

Jason was standing in about an inch of water and declared that was time to give up!  Our real tree fell over 9, yes 9 stinkin' times!  We cleaned up the mess and brought in our artificial tree from the garage.  It didn't take long at all for Daddy, Evan, and Payton to put it together and fluff it.

Finally, we could start decorating our tree!  The little girls followed Daddy like little ducklings as he strung the lights on the tree.

Then it was time for icicles.  The kids really enjoyed putting them on!

Karsyn thought she needed mittens to handle the icicles.

Payton was very meticulous.

Evan worked hard to make it perfect!

Addi had a lot of fun!

Payton working hard!

Addi started jumping to reach the high spots. ha!
Oh yeah, and this happened!
Then it was ornament time!  Evan really wanted to be the first to put an ornament on the tree.  Here he is in action.

The kids worked really hard to put all of the ornaments on the tree.

Karsyn had trouble with the hooks, so she just pointed to where she wanted me to put the ornaments.
When the tree was full of ornaments, it was time for the star.  All 3 girls really wanted to put the star on, so they all took turns.  Who says it's a one man girl job?

Payton's turn.

Addi was really concentrating!

Sweet Karsyn's turn!
Evan didn't want a turn, but we didn't want him to feel left out. Daddy and I decided that Evan was going to have a turn, whether he wanted to or not!  It invoked a lot of laughs!

I love my silly boys!!!
And then the tree was finished!  I had to take the picture with my phone because of the lighting in our living room made all of the pictures blurry.  I think it turned out so pretty!

We've decided next year that we're going to go to a tree farm.  Maybe that way, our tree will stay standing. =)

  1. So sorry the real tree didn't cooperate, but your tree is lovely and now you don't have to worry about watering it. See, I get the perks of fake trees. Haha! I loved Evan's laughing face when daddy was lifting him to "hang" the star. That definitely reminds me of my Evan. The kids all did a great job decorating the tree!

  2. I am in the Tulsa area too and I found your blog from a comment on Laurie's Life this morning.... I just wanted to say that it is so refreshing to hear the craziness of how your night started! Lessons, baths, trips to the store! I'm in that exact phase right now and i'm so glad to know i'm not alone! We still haven't decorated our tree! Maybe if we have a snow day tomorrow!

  3. Your tree looks awesome!

You might need a stronger stand to keep a live tree upright. Since live trees are heavier than artificial ones (I think), the stand you have might be the culprit.

I'm impressed you tried nine times to keep your tree upright. You guys have definitely learned the trait of perseverance!
