Earlier this week, the kiddos and I were able to watch Natalie and Uncle Billy perform in Handel's "Messiah." (Jason would have loved to have went, but he had to work late. 'Tis the Season.) When I was in high school, the oratorio was performed as a madrigal dinner. Now, it's held at one of our local churches and alumni are invited to attend. It was just beautiful.
As much I was looking forward to the performance, I was also a little worried how my littlest ladies would hold up. The concert start time was very close to their bed time. I was prepared to leave early, but I was very pleased that there wasn't a need. The music was like a sweet lullaby to Addi. She laid her head on Emily's shoulder and was out. Karsyn was entranced by the whole production. She sat quietly watching the entire time. Occasionally, I would catch her very gently trying to conduct the music with her fingers. She loved being able to see Uncle Billy when the chorus performed. He was hidden behind the organ while soloist were performing.
Toward the end, Natalie had a solo. She was amazing! Evan leaned over to me after and said, "Natalie did really good! She was the best!" I had to agree. I couldn't help but tear up a little.
After the "Hallelujah Chorus" was performed, we got to give some hugs and take some pictures. Karsyn couldn't wait to jump into Nat's arms.
Addi still was snoozing.
Evan and Stephen both really enjoyed the performance.
Payton and Karsyn had to get their picture with the stars of the show.

What a special night. I know Natalie was so glad you all could attend.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a beautiful evening and I'm impressed Karsyn did so well. I can't imagine trying to take Rachel to something like this. Ah.
