She is doing so good in both!!!!
On Thursday, Evan got to go on a field trip with his Gifted and Talented class. They went to the University of Tulsa for their annual drama festival. Evan's class put on a performance called "What Does The Mortal Say?" They were all Greek gods and then did a dance similar to What Does the Fox Say? Since Jason was off work, he got to go along.

Evan was Hercules
After they performed, they watched other classes and then went to lunch. They had enough time to visit the TU library and had a lot of fun learning about banned books. Did you know at one time The Wizard of Oz and Alice In Wonderland were banned?
They also got to look at a few different Indian artifacts from the school's collection. Oklahoma has deep roots in Native American history.
Thursday evening, was kind of crazy. Evan and Payton both had soccer practice and we also had Parent/Teacher conferences scheduled. Luckily, Jason was off work, but Karsyn started to act like she wasn't feeling too great again. We wanted to give her the chance to rest up, because we had a very fun weekend plan. Aunt Kary came to the rescue and stayed with Evan, Payton, and Stephen at the soccer fields and I went to the conferences.

Poor Karsyn =(
The conferences went very well! Both Evan and Payton are making straight A's. Payton's teacher said that she is finally coming out of her shy shell. She showed me a video of her dancing with her friends. It was so cute! It made me so happy to see it, because Payton has been so quiet and shy since she started school. Evan's conference went very well too. Despite skipping the forth grade last year, Evan is still finishing his work very quickly and spends a lot of his day reading. His teacher told us that Evan reminds her of Dr. Spencer Reid from the show Criminal Minds. She's amazed at how he retains information. She also said that she really loves to watch Evan, Stephen, and another friend interact each day. More than the good grades, I'm super proud that both Evan and Payton's teachers mentioned that they have great character.

Addisyn Hope - 2010
I shared this picture of Addi on Instagram for #tbt last week. Four years have went by fast!!! I think our family really needs to go back to this park for pictures this Spring!
Hope you all had a great week!!!!

Awww, I am so sorry you all had the stomach bug, but I am glad you all are feeling better now. Yep, I new a little of Oklahoma's Native American history. Before it was a state, it was the Indian Territory where the country sent the Cherokee after they were forced out of their homes in the south (a.k.a. Trail of Tears). They had a pretty nice organized nation there before the Civil War. As my previous comment mentioned, my grandma was from Oklahoma and she had Native American heritage. I do love that last photo of Addisyn! I am not on Instagram much anymore. :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Sherry! I'm glad that we are feeling better too. You know a lot of OK history. I learn something new all of the time. Just yesterday, I learned of a tribe that I've never heard of before.
DeleteAlso, do you want me to send you a Spring background with the pink and aqua colors you had wanted? Or do you want a different color scheme?
ReplyDeleteI would love that! Thank you!
DeleteBeing thrown up on is the worst. Blah. I'm glad it seemed to be a quick bug and I hope you have all been feeling good since then! Yay for good reports about both Evan and Payton -- I agree good character reports are better than anything. And I love that picture of Addi. It's precious :)
