A Fall Swim

Earlier this week, Jason told me that he made plans for our little family to meet up with Uncle Brian, Aunt Stephanie, Papa Floyd, and Grandma at the flip house for a cook out and swimming for this weekend.  I thought the cookout was a great idea, but swimming???  It's October!  On Friday evening, Jason, Evan, Papa Gene, and Grandpa James all went to our high school's home coming game.  They had to wear coats and had blankets.  It dipped down into the 40's!  But, today was the big day and swim we did!  The high today was 83 degrees and thanks to the pool heater, the water was a warm 90 degrees.  The water was the most pleasant that it's been!  Unfortunately, Grandma wasn't able to make it today.  We sure missed her being there.  We started out with a cookout and then ate homemade ice cream.  Papa made chocolate.  Payton made Karsyn's day when she gave her ice cream a smile.

Then, it was time to test the water. It wasn't until we got in, that we were convinced the water would be warm enough.  Uncle Brian helped Karsyn in.

After we were all in, I made a few people take pictures. =)

Then, Evan and Addi took turns on the float.

We all played a little beach ball.

And of course, the kiddos did some diving in.  Payton was so timid to jump in at the beginning of the summer and today she cannon balled away.

Evan always yells cannon ball, but he does something more like a belly flop. lol.

Karsyn forgets that she's only three years-old and loves to jump in the deep end.

Karsyn and Payton also had a lot of fun doing some sister dives.  Addi has no desire whatsoever to join in on the fun. ha!

I'm sure the neighbors thought we were crazy (and you may very well too), but we had a great time!

  1. Thanks to the heater, the pool at my parents' house is still open right now... but after have a high of 60 on Sunday, it's about time for my dad to close it up... glad you got to squeeze in another swim!

  2. I have to admit I do think swimming outside in October is crazy. Of course we're going down to below freezing this coming weekend. Oh joy! I'm glad you all had fun though.
