Fall Break {2014} Part Two

I had planned to take the kiddos to do something fun on Friday of Fall Break. I decided in the morning however, that we really needed to take some time to get some laundry and housework done.  The kids were not too pleased with me.  =( When Jason got home from work, we did have a lot of fun making Halloween Bark as a family.  Addi and Karsyn added around a pound of sprinkles more than the recipe called for.  Here's the Pinterest version vs. Ours.

Here's the recipe if you are interested.  I thought it was a bit too sweet, but the kids really liked it.  Although, Karsyn asked me if it was Halloween throw up. lol! On Saturday morning, the kiddos and I headed out to an early soccer game.  It was Evan and Stephen's last home game of the season.  The boys had quite the cheering section.  It goes from Nana all the way down to Karsyn's orange hair bow.

I brought a bottle of Diet Pepsi with me and Addi dropped it at least 5 times before the game even started.  My parents giggled and attributed it to Addi being my daughter.  Then, my mom opened a box of candy for dad and this happened.

All but 3 pieces of candy fell out of the box.  I guess being clumsy is in our DNA.  The boys' team only had 8 boys show up to play.  Some boys went away for Fall Break.  So, they had to play 8 on 9 with no subbing.  The boys played the absolute best they ever have, but they still lost 1-0.

The kiddos and I had a lazy afternoon.  Karsyn took a nap.  Payton read.  I did some online scrap booking.  I'm about half way through 2012. ha!  Evan watched the OU game.  Addi played with blocks.  When Jason got home from work, we headed to the park.  (It wasn't really as dark as what it looks in the pictures.  I used my flash fill setting.)
After we left the park, we went to the grocery store.  We got in on the last 30 minutes of a 12 hour sale.  Unfortunately, more than a few items were sold out.  But, we still got 5 bags of groceries for under $30 and Payton got to use one of her coupons.  She was super happy.  We had a late dinner and then all of the kiddos were tired and ready for bed.  Tomorrow, is the last day of Fall Break.  We have some really fun fall activities planned. =)

  1. I both hate and love soccer games like that where you are so proud of how great the kids play but you know they are exhausted from playing the whole game and have such a disadvantage. You are way further than I am on the scrapbooking. I have only printed through 2009! Ugh! Do you just make photo books for each year? That's the main reason I started blogging was to have an easier way of compiling all of our pictures and memories into an easier forum for printing but printing blog books is so expensive that I just can't keep up. Maybe it will be done by the time all the kids are off to college. Haha! And please tell how you do the cheap grocery shopping. I always see people post about getting so much for so little money, but their pictures always show them getting a bunch of stuff that we would never use and not the necessities. I don't need dozens of bottles of dish detergent that I can't store, you know? Haha!

    1. I started online scrap booking in 2009 when Addi was born. Up until then, I had always made a handmade scrapbook. I try to one book for a year. It depends on how many events I cover. Sometimes, I'll do two books for one year. The blog books do seem kind of pricey. I try to print my books off from Shutterfly when they have a special. I like the way their site works the best. I've had to use my blog several times for references of events since I'm behind. It makes me really glad that I blog. =)

We don't usually get groceries that cheap. In fact most of the time, I wonder how we spent so much on so little. ha! We have a local store that does 12 hour sales every quarter and offers great deals. We try to load up when they do.

  2. Ha ha ha!!! Hallowe'en throw up! That is so awesome :) Also, I think yours is the stuff on the right but I'm still not totally sure. Obviously I am not a bark expert :)

That is quite the cheering section and the clumsy DNA made me laugh. Dave definitely has some of that in his family but he's very aware of it so won't climb ladders or other things where he might seriously hurt himself. Someone should have told him not to move tables in March, eh?!

Your Saturday afternoon sounds absolutely blissful. I live for those kinds of days.
